AmpUp Selected by National Grid for Utility Pole Charge Station Pilot

AmpUp

Cupertino, CA – April 22, 2021 – AmpUp is excited to celebrate this year’s Earth Day with the announcement of an innovative EV charging pilot with the City of Melrose, National Grid, EVSE LLC, and Voltrek.

A first-of-its-kind solution in the region, the City of Melrose, MA has deployed utility-pole-mounted charging stations across their city for public use. The project was launched under a National Grid pilot to leveraging existing utility poles for new charge stations. The stations will bring a number of benefits to the community, including increased charging access in the population-dense area and avoidance of high installation costs.

AmpUp was proud to be selected for this opportunity in order to support the City of Melrose’s goal of becoming a carbon-neutral community by 2050. With collaboration across so many key stakeholders, the project serves as a national model for making EV charging more accessible and equitable in the most challenging environments. The charge stations will be publicly available and can be accessed via the AmpUp mobile app.

The City of Melrose will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for the new stations, as well as an EV parade to further promote electric vehicles and sustainability.

We can’t thank the collective team enough from National Grid, EVSE LLC, and Voltrek for making this possible!
